Coffee, Black – Art Shot
Description:
This image was crated as a fanart piece as a surprise gift for the author of a Dragon Age 2 fanfiction story. The story featured DA2 characters in a modern setting, with Garrett Hawke working as a barista, and Fenris as a regular customer at the coffee shop. In Chapter 6 of the story Fenris took a photo of a foam art leaf in a cafe breva, and this was a render made to look like it was that photo.
The mug and saucer are lathes, and the mug handle is a loft. Poly counts are quite high as the goal here was to make a reasonably photo-realistic image.
The final image was rendered in two passes, the first one for the overall diffuse image render (including lighting, shadows, reflections, etc.), and then a second ambient occlusion render. The two were composited into one image in Photoshop.
